I’m working on getting a promotion post up and around, so bear with me!
Jackson Sylas || Twenty-One || Chaperone || FC: Jared Leto || Open
Bio: Jackson was raised in New York City in a constantly changing household, nothing ever entirely being exactly like it was a month before. His parents split up shortly before he was born, having never been married, so Jackson was always accustomed to moving from home to home. He was the only child of both his parents, although both married and eventually he had an array of half-siblings.
Early on, his parents became rather caught up in their new lives, and it wasn’t long before Jackson got all but completely left behind. Jackson quickly grew to greatly resent his parents and their new family, leading to his constantly avoiding home. He would typically spend his days either at a friends house or at a local place, such as coffee shops or parks during the spring and summer, then return home by the time everyone was asleep to avoid confrontation, although he doubted his parents even noticed his absence.
Because he spent so much time exploring new ideas and places, Jackson easily became aware of plenty of different types of culture around the city as well as different forms of art, music, and all sorts of other types of expression. Jackson took a particular interest in music toward the end of his High School years, and quickly found this to be his escape from the rough time he had at home. He began to perform locally soon after picking up a guitar and quickly met Carlie, his girlfriend, at one of the venues. Carlie was quite opposite of Jackson— very caring and concerned with everybody— and Jackson truly considered her to be his better half until the day they broke up.
Jackson graduated high school but refused to go off to college, finding he was capable of making a living off of the money he earned from the several shows he played a week. After a year spent in New York, he and Carlie moved to Las Vegas where it was much more difficult for him to get gigs. He and Carlie dated from the time Jackson was eighteen until he was twenty-one, although shortly before they broke up she convinced him to join the Chaperone program at LVIC, seeing as his lifestyle was becoming more expensive and his shows weren’t paying enough. However, Carlie didn’t get her papers turned in on time, leaving Jackson with a one-year contract. Grudgingly, and in a worse state because of the break up, Jackson is now entering his chaperone time with a very bitter, harsh attitude.
Personality: Jackson is basically the opposite of what a chaperone should be. He is highly sarcastic and very careless; rarely will he actually commit to a friendship or relationship. Very lazy, he constantly uses his looks and charm to manipulate others into doing work for him. Although most would expect Jackson to be very illiterate and unintelligent, he is quite the opposite; he will be capable of respecting someone who can hold a nice, intellectual conversation with him. He also will respect anyone who knows their way around music as well as he does, also nearly any subject will simply be received with heavy disinterest on his part. However, should someone prove to interest him, they may just be able to find a way into Jackson’s cynical heart.
Jackson intends to spend his time as a chaperone simply mooching off of what LVIC has to offer him. He doesn’t plan on assisting any patient at all, and actually has begun to believe that he may be able to get away with avoiding having one at all. All Jackson wants is to finish his year as a chaperone and then return home so he can continue his career as a musician.
going to bed now.
I’ll try to make a ton more characters tomorrow (: thanks for the ideas, guys!
she’s been re-opened!
Xavier Love || Twenty-Two || Patient || FC: Thomas Dekker || Taken
Bio: Born in Russia, Xavier has been in an out of psyche wards his entire life, off and on every medication, and seen by every therapist his parents could afford. Obviously, all these treatments have been to no avail.
As a child, it was obvious Xavier had mental issues, although it was ruled out as a ‘disability’ early on, seeing as he seemed to have a very, extremely high intelligence for his age. However, as opposed to spending time with other children in school, Xavier was very introverted, and was often caught trying to catch bugs during recess time. Quickly, chasing after animals became his primary time-consumer. While this didn’t shake his parents much, seeing as Xavier was a child and it was expected of him to be curious, what did bother them was his withdrawal at school. His parents, both very wealthy and considerate of their only son’s well being, brought in a few doctors into the home to look over Xavier; they found nothing.
The reasons the doctors didn’t detect any mental illness was simply because it didn’t strike severely into later on. In the eighth grade, Xavier discovered the book “Bram Stoker’s Dracula.” Immediately, Xavier became obsessed with the piece of literature, and even began to refer to himself subtly as ‘Renfield,’ which was the name of the insane man under a doctor’s care in the book. While Renfield would consume the animals he caught, Xavier instead simply collected them, claiming that his ‘Master’ told him to do so, so he could save their ‘life sources’ for later.
After his parents discovered Xavier’s incredible ‘collection’ of animals, ranging from animals as small as mice to as large as cats, they became terrified and attempted to speak to him about why he’d been collecting them. During this confrontation, he even went so far as to bite his father, while continuing on about his Master and even referring to himself in third person as Renfield. Terrified by their son’s actions, the two parents began to send him to facilities for help, and he was in and out of several institutions from the time he was fourteen until he was seventeen.
After these wards proved useless, Xavier having seen little progress, his parents decided to venture outside of Europe and Asia for help, soon discovering the Institute of Corrections. However hesitant, they sent him to the institute shortly after his relapse at a Russian ward, where he has resided since. Xavier has been at LVIC for so long mostly due to the progress he’s seen, only because, although it is not great, it is much greater than any of the treatments he’d received at other facilities. At the facility he was finally diagnosed as a sociopath and schizophrenic, as well as discovered to suffer from delusions, much like the character Renfield from the story.
Personality: As a teen, it was rare to discover Xavier in a sane state. However, after the treatment he’s received, he has become much more casually sane, and is only prone to outbursts, although these outbursts have become increasingly violent and frightening. During these outbursts, Xavier demonstrates what seems like a split-personality type of reaction, however it has not been diagnosed as so seeing as Xavier truly believes himself to be the character Renfield reincarnate, and is not suffering from two separate personalities.
Xavier is known to be extremely unpredictable when it comes to his mood. He usually starts the day with an odd, un-responsive attitude, but the most unusual things will trigger him to either be extremely happy, or the opposite. He’s particularly violent and aggressive when in a bad mood, which also causes an adrenaline rush for him, thus a threatening peak aggressiveness, so whoever catches him in a bad state never really gets out un-harmed. When he’s happy, it’s not much better, though. He usually will attach himself to one person, prompting to call them ‘mother,’ ‘father,’ ‘brother,’ or ‘sister’ and show complete adoration for the other. Once turned down by the person enough, though, he will resume his angry, unstable state.
Despite being entirely psychotic, he has read the book Dracula over one-hundred times and has managed to stumble across one of the first copies of the book ever printed, and he refers to the book as ‘Master,’ due to him being under the impression that Dracula himself was reborn in the book, and Xavier often claims that the book tells him what to do based on its contents, although he does say his ‘Master’ tells him to do things that aren’t within the book. He is very defensive of “Dracula,” also, and will probably attempt to harm anyone that disagrees with anything, or says they didn’t like the book. He takes offense to any type of negative criticism or statement against the book, Bram Stoker, or the character Dracula himself.
Typically, Xavier comes off as a bit odd, however not unlikeable, save for his constant raves about Dracula. He has an odd sort of charm and manipulating tone that often mesmerizes new patients. He has not been assigned a chaperone in years due to his violent tendencies and is forced nearly triple the therapy sessions that most patients are required due to his unstable personality. During his time he was kept mostly in confinement, although due to his progress, Xavier has now been allowed to mingle with the other patients, and seems to be handling them fine, although should one say something that rubs him the wrong way, a wake-up call will be waiting for them.
Suggest little ideas for characters. I need to make more!
